Steve Aoki

Steve Aoki was conceived in Miami, Florida on November 30 1977. American electro house music producer D.J., and record producer Steve Aoki is his nickname. and music executive. He is the third of Chizuru and Rocky Aoki's children. His father was a former wrestler who founded the chain of restaurants Benihana. There are two siblings that include sister Kana, who is often known as Grace due to her middle name Grace as well as brother Kevin (owner of Doraku Sushi). The half-sister of his model and actress Devon Aoki. He was born in Newport Beach, California & graduated from Newport Harbor High School in 1995. He was on the varsity badminton team. Then, he attended UC Santa Barbara, graduating with two B.A. degrees: one in feminist studies & the one in sociology. He was a student at the college who made records on his own and hosted underground music in his Biko space in the Santa Barbara Student Housing Cooperative. The Pickle Patch was born as a venue for concerts. He also was involved in student activism at UCSB, being the founder of the Revolutionary Anti-Imperialist League chapter on campus. In his 20s, Dim Mak had established his own record label, that he named Dim Mak in honor of his favorite childhood idol Bruce Lee. He released I'm In the House in March 2010 in collaboration with Zuper Blahq, the alter-ego of will.i.am from The Black Eyed Peas. It was ranked the top spot at No. 29 in the U.K. Singles Chart in its first week of release. It reached the top 5 on both the U.K. Indie Chart & U.K. Dance Chart. The song was shown on MTV's Jersey Shore, as well as in the feature film Piranha and the trailer for Think Like A Man. Producer and songwriter Lucas Secon confirmed in a interview in May 2010 with HitQuarters that he and Rivers Cuomo had recently worked w/ Aoki on the single. Pollstar has named him the highest-grossing North America dance artist from shows in 2012. He has collaborated with artists like Iggy Azalea, Afrojack, LMFAO, Linkin Park, Will.i.am, Lil Jon, Blink-182, Laidback Luke, BTS, Louis Tomlinson, Rise Against, Vini Vici & Fall Out Boy.
