several subsequent films. Jolie as the role of governor's wife in Alabama, a

2004 she portrayed the mother of Alexander the Great in Oliver Stone's
Alexander as well as starred alongside Gwyneth Paltrow and Jude Law in Sky
Captain and the World of Tomorrow, a science-fiction thriller set in 1930s New

successful in Mr. & Mrs. Smith (2005). She was a housewife, pretending
to be an assassin. While working on the film, she was introduced to Brad Pitt
who became her co-star.
